The Student Exclusion List prevents designated students from being out of class in the hallways at the same time. This safety and behavior management tool helps schools address:
Disciplinary conflicts and physical separation requirements between specific students

Managing Student Exclusion groups
Navigate to Features > Hall Pass > Student Exclusion List in your App Dashboard to view, search, create, or import exclusion groups.
Search groups: Quickly locate existing groups by searching any student's name.
Create a group manually: Select two or more students, enter optional administrative notes describing the reason for separation, and choose whether the group is permanent or temporary.
Temporary groups with auto-expiration: Check "This group should be deleted automatically" and pick an expiration date (e.g., the end of a 30-day restorative intervention). Once that date arrives, the exclusion group automatically deletes itself without requiring manual administrator cleanup.
Bulk import exclusion groups: Schools migrating from another platform or managing large rosters can import exclusion groups in bulk using a spreadsheet (CSV/Excel). Download the provided template sample file from the import modal to format your student IDs and group names properly.
How Student Exclusion enforcement works
When a teacher or administrator attempts to issue a Hall Pass (from the Dashboard or mobile app) to a student who belongs to an exclusion group:
The system automatically checks whether any other student in that same group currently has an active Hall Pass.
Active check-in enforcement: Exclusions remain actively enforced until the out-of-class student physically checks in upon return. Even if a pass reaches its scheduled expiration time, the exclusion rule stays active until the student's status changes to "Checked In".
Staff warning prompt: If a group conflict is detected, the system displays a clear warning dialogue stating that another student in the exclusion group is currently in the hallway. Any administrative notes attached to the group are shown to provide context.
Staff override decision: Staff can choose to click Cancel to prevent the pass, or click Create anyway if an urgent or supervised exception is required by campus policy.
