The Events feature in your Edlio Mobile App provides a convenient way to create and manage events for your community. This article covers the basic setup and management of the Events feature.

What are Events?

Events in the Edlio Mobile App represent scheduled activities, meetings, or occasions that you want to communicate to your community.

Key features of Events include:

  • Date and time scheduling

  • Location details

  • Event descriptions

  • Image attachments

  • Recurring event settings

  • Access control based on user roles

Accessing Events

To access and manage Events:

  1. Log in to your EdlioApp admin panel at edlioapp.com

2. Navigate to Features from the main menu

3. Select Events from the features list

Managing Events

Creating a New Event

To create a new Event:

  1. From the Events management page, click the New button

2. Fill in the following required information:

  • Title: The name of the event as it will appear in the app

  • Date: The date when the event will take place

  • Time: The start and end times for the event (optional)

3. Optional settings:

  • Description: Additional details about the event

  • Location: Where the event will take place

  • Image: An image to represent the event

  • Recurring: Set if the event repeats on a regular schedule

  • Unpublished: Toggle this on to create the event but keep it hidden from users until you're ready to publish it

4. Configure access permissions:

  • All Users - This item is public: Makes the event visible to all app users

  • Visible only to (Roles): Restricts visibility to specific user roles (Students, Parents/Guardians, Teachers, Administrators, or Other)

  • Visible only to (Lists): Restricts visibility to specific user lists you've created

5. Click Ok to create the event, or Save & Edit if you want to make additional changes

Creating Event Folders

To organize events by type:

  1. Click on the New Folder tab in the Events section

  2. Click the New button

  3. Enter a name for the folder

  4. Configure access permissions

Events can then be assigned to these folders during creation or editing.

Editing Events

To edit an existing Event:

  1. Find the Event in the list

  2. Click the edit (pencil) icon in the actions column

3. Make your desired changes

4. Click Okay to update

Deleting Events

To delete an Event:

  1. Find the Event in the list

  2. Click the delete (trash) icon in the actions column

3. Confirm the deletion when prompted

Recurring Events

For events that repeat on a regular schedule:

  1. When creating or editing an event, toggle on the Recurring option

  2. Select the recurrence pattern:

    • Daily

    • Weekly

    • Monthly

    • Yearly

  3. Set the end date for the recurrence or specify the number of occurrences

  4. Configure any exceptions to the recurrence pattern if needed

Calendar View

The Events feature includes a calendar view to help you visualize your scheduled events:

  1. In the Events section, click on the eye icon next to the Calendar name

2. Navigate between months using the arrow buttons

3. Click on any date to see events scheduled for that day


4. Click on an event in the calendar to edit it directly

How Events Appear in the Mobile App

In the mobile app, Events appear in both list and calendar formats:

  • Calendar View: Displays events on their scheduled dates

  • Detail View: Shows all event information when a user taps on a specific event

Users can:

  • Browse upcoming events

  • Add events to their personal calendar

  • Set reminders for events

  • Share events with others

Best Practices for Events

  • Use clear, descriptive titles: Make sure event names clearly describe the event

  • Include complete information: Provide all necessary details like location, time, and what to expect

  • Add images: Use relevant images to make events more engaging

  • Set appropriate access controls: Ensure events are visible to the intended audience

  • Plan ahead: Create recurring events for regular activities to save time

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Issue: Event doesn't appear in the mobile app
​Solutions:

  • Verify the event isn't set to "Unpublished"

  • Check that the event hasn't expired (past its date)

  • Ensure the user has the appropriate role/list access

  • Verify the event was saved properly

Issue: Recurring events aren't displaying correctly
​Solution: Verify that the recurrence pattern and end date are set correctly
