Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Q: How many events can I create in the Edlio Mobile App?
A: There is no specific limit to the number of events you can create. However, for optimal user experience and performance, we recommend keeping the total number of active events at a manageable level (typically fewer than 500 active events at one time).

Q: Can users add events to their personal calendars?
A: Yes, when viewing an event in the mobile app, users can tap the "Add to Calendar" button to add the event to their device's default calendar application.

Q: Can I import events from another calendar system?
A: Yes, the Edlio Mobile App supports importing events via CSV file. You can also work with Edlio support to set up connections for automatic synchronization using the Public iCal URL.

Q: Do events work offline?
A: Basic event information that has already been loaded will be viewable offline, but users won't be able to see updated information until they reconnect to the internet.

Common Issues and Solutions

Display Issues

Issue: Events are not appearing in the correct order
Solution:

  1. Check the date and time settings for each event to ensure they are correctly entered

  2. Verify that events are set to the correct time zone

  3. For events happening on the same day, check the "Start Time" field to ensure the correct sequence

  4. Remember that past events may be hidden from the default view in the app

Issue: Event images appear distorted or incorrectly sized
Solution:

  1. Use images with a 16:9 aspect ratio for optimal display in the event list

  2. The recommended image size is 1200x675 pixels

  3. If an image appears distorted, try replacing it with a new image that matches these specifications

  4. Very large images may be automatically resized, which can sometimes cause quality issues

Access Control Issues

Issue: Users cannot see events that should be available to them
Solution:

  1. Verify that the user has the appropriate role (Student, Parent/Guardian, Teacher, Administrator, or Other)

  2. If using custom lists, ensure the user is included in the correct list

  3. Check that the event is not set to "Unpublished"

  4. Verify the event hasn't expired or been deleted

Issue: Users can see events that should be restricted
Solution:

  1. Double-check the access settings for the specific event

  2. Verify the user's role and list memberships

  3. Remember that if an event is set to "All Users - This item is public," it will be visible to everyone regardless of role

  4. Check if there are conflicting access settings at the account level

Calendar View Issues

Issue: Calendar view is not displaying all events
Solution:

  1. Verify that the time period being viewed (month/week/day) contains the events in question

  2. Ensure events have been properly saved with correct dates

  3. Verify the access permissions for the events

Issue: Recurring events are displaying incorrectly
Solution:

  1. Verify that the recurrence pattern is correctly set

  2. Check for any exceptions that might be affecting specific occurrences

  3. Ensure the end date for the recurrence is correct

  4. For complex recurrence patterns, consider creating individual events instead

Technical Troubleshooting

Performance Issues

Issue: Events section is slow to load
Solution:

  1. Reduce the number of active events by archiving past events

  2. Optimize image sizes to reduce loading time

  3. Ensure you're using the latest version of the app

  4. Check your device's internet connection

  5. If the problem persists, try clearing the app cache or reinstalling the app

Issue: App crashes when accessing certain events
Solution:

  1. Check if the event contains very large images or complex formatting

  2. Try accessing the event from a different device to see if it's device-specific

  3. Update to the latest version of the app

  4. If the problem continues, report the specific event to Edlio support for further investigation

Import/Export Issues

Issue: Event import is failing
Solution:

  1. Ensure you're using the correct CSV template format

  2. Verify that all required fields (Title, Date) are completed

  3. Check for special characters or formatting in your spreadsheet that might cause issues

  4. For large imports, try breaking the file into smaller batches

  5. Ensure dates are in the correct format (YYYY-MM-DD)

Issue: Export files are incomplete or corrupted
Solution:

  1. Try exporting again with a smaller date range

  2. Use a different browser if experiencing download issues

  3. Check available disk space on your device

  4. For very large exports, contact Edlio support for assistance

Mobile App-Specific Issues

Issue: Notifications for events aren't working
Solution:

  1. Verify notifications are enabled for the app in device settings

  2. Check if event reminders are enabled in the user's app preferences

  3. Ensure the event has reminders enabled by the administrator

  4. For scheduled notifications, verify they were set up correctly

Best Practices to Avoid Common Issues

  1. Regularly audit your events to ensure they're still relevant and have correct information

  2. Use descriptive, concise titles that make it clear what the event is about

  3. Optimize images before uploading to prevent display and performance issues

  4. Test new event features with a small group before widely implementing them

  5. Document your event settings and access control decisions for future reference
