What is the App Newsfeed?
The App Newsfeed serves as the central information stream in your mobile app. It displays chronological posts that can include text, images, videos, and links. This feature enables you to keep your community informed about important events, achievements, announcements, and other relevant information.

Posts can be categorized for better organization
Access to posts can be controlled based on user roles
Content can be scheduled for future publication
Analytics track view counts for each post
Please Note: The App Newsfeed is where you manage the news items on the newsfeed. To create a new message please click the Mass Communication (this will say Create News if you are not an Edlio Mass Communication user) tile from your homepage.
Accessing App Newsfeed Management
To access and manage the App Newsfeed:
Log in to your EdlioApp admin panel at edlioapp.com
2. Navigate to Features from the main menu
3. Select App Newsfeed from the features list

App News Settings
To configure the general settings for your App Newsfeed
From the App Newsfeed management page, click the App News Settings button:
Adjust the following settings:
Limit Visibility (days): Control how many days posts remain visible in the feed
Show contacts without personal categories in alert settings:

Creating and Managing Categories
Categories help organize your news posts and allow users to filter the newsfeed based on their interests.
To manage categories:
From the App Newsfeed management page, click the Categories button
2. To add a new category:
Click the New button
Enter a name for the category
Choose a color for visual identification
Configure access permissions if needed
Click Save
3. To edit or delete existing categories:
Click the edit (pencil) icon to modify a category
4. Click the delete (trash) icon to remove a category
Common category examples include Athletics, Academics, Events, Announcements, and Community News.
Creating a New News Post
To create a new post for your App Newsfeed:
From the Home dashboard, click the Mass Communication (this will say Create News if you are not an Edlio Mass Communication user)
2. Click the New Message button (or use the Create News link from the navigation menu)
3. Fill in the following information:
Title: A concise, descriptive title for your post
Body: The main content of your post, which can include formatted text, images, links, and more
Category: Select the appropriate category for your post
Attachments: Add images, documents, or other files to your post
Featured Image: Upload a primary image to be displayed with your post
Publish Date: Set when the post should appear in the newsfeed (immediately or scheduled for the future)
Expiration Date: Optionally set when the post should be removed from the feed
Access Permissions: Control which user groups can view the post
4. Click Preview to see how your post will appear in the app
5. Click Send to publish the post or save it as a draft
Scheduling Posts
Planning your content in advance helps maintain a consistent information flow:
When creating or editing a post, set the Publish Date to a future date and time
Optionally, set an Expiration Date when the post should no longer appear
Scheduled posts will appear in your management view with an "Unpublished" status until their publish date arrives
You can edit or cancel scheduled posts at any time before they go live
Adding Rich Media to Posts
To make your posts more engaging:
Adding Images:
Click the image icon in the post editor toolbar
Upload an image or select one from your library
Adjust size and alignment as needed
Add alternative text for accessibility
Adding Videos:
Click the video icon in the editor toolbar
Upload a video directly or embed one from services like YouTube
Set an optional thumbnail image
Configure playback options
Adding Links:
Highlight the text you want to make into a link
Click the link icon in the editor toolbar
Enter the URL
Optionally configure whether the link opens within the app or in an external browser
Managing Existing Posts
The App Newsfeed management page displays a list of all posts with key information and action options:
Viewing and Sorting Posts:
Use the "Show Unpublished" checkbox to include draft and scheduled posts in the view

Click the edit (pencil) icon on a post to modify its content or settings
Make your changes and click Save to update the post

Click the delete (trash) icon on a post to remove it

The "Viewed by" column shows how many users have viewed each post
