π Target Lists are now Groups. As of June 2026, Target Lists have been renamed to Groups in the Edlio app. This is a rename with a redesigned interface, not a new system β all your data is preserved (members, filter rules, restrictions, and communication history remain intact). You do not need to recreate or migrate anything.
Groups
Groups let you organize the people in your community β students, staff, families, and community members β into reusable audiences. Use Groups to target mass communications (app, email, text, and voice), control who can see content in your app, and manage classroom audiences.
What happened to Target Lists?
Target Lists are now called Groups. This is a rename with a redesigned interface β not a new system you have to set up:
All your data is preserved. Every existing Target List is now a Group. Members, filter rules, restrictions, and communication history remain intact. You do not need to recreate or migrate anything.
Improved and refreshed UI. The interface has been redesigned to make managing groups more intuitive and efficient.
Easier group management. Create, organize, and manage groups faster with streamlined tools and workflows.
The first time you visit the dashboard after the change, you'll see a banner announcing that Target Lists have become Groups. You can dismiss it with the X, or click Explore Groups to go straight to the new page.
β
The first time you open the Groups page itself, a short introduction modal recaps what's new β dismiss it and it won't appear again.
Where to find Groups
In the dashboard menu, go to People > Groups (formerly People > Target Lists). The menu item now uses the people-group icon.
What's new in Groups
Group avatars β give each group a photo, an icon with a color, or auto-generated initials with a color, so groups are easy to recognize at a glance.
Group descriptions β an optional description (up to 750 characters) to explain what a group is for.
Pinning β pin your most-used groups to the top of the list.
Reachability badges β see at a glance what percentage of each group is reachable by App, Email, Text, and Voice.
A guided 3-step create flow β Group Info β Add Members β Permissions.
Types of groups
Regular groups β built by you, using any combination of individually selected members (static), filter rules (dynamic), and additional contacts.
Classroom-synced groups β created and kept in sync automatically from a connected Classroom. Membership is managed by the classroom sync; you can add additional contacts and control whether staff can use the group.
Where Groups are used
Mass Communication β choose Groups as the audience when sending email, text, voice, or app messages.
Content visibility β features such as Directory, Info Pages, Calendar, Quick Links, Apps, Forms, Documents, and Pictures now show "Visible only to (Groups)" where they previously said "Visible only to (List)."
Classrooms β classroom Create/Edit screens now show "Connected Groups" instead of "Connected Target Lists."
Mobile app news targeting β when creating News, the targeting screen now says "App Groups."
Accessing Groups
In the dashboard menu, go to People > Groups. You'll see all existing groups in a table with each group's name, last sync time, and member count. Groups sync hourly, and also whenever they are created or edited.
Managing existing groups
Each group offers the following actions:
View members β see all members with their info (name, email, phone, language).
Pin to Top β make frequently used groups easy to find at the top of the list.
Sync β manually update membership instead of waiting for the hourly sync.
Clone β copy an existing group to create a similar one with modifications.
Edit β modify the criteria, name, or membership rules.
Delete β permanently remove a group (this action cannot be undone).
Creating a new group
Navigate to People > Groups and click Create New Group.
Name your group clearly (e.g., "5th Grade Parents," "Math Club").
Configure settings: Pin Group pins it to the top of the list; Public means anyone in the app can see and subscribe to the group; Only include people from additional targets limits membership to people from a list further down the screen.
Choose the relationship selector (normal, include/only parents, include/only children).
Apply filters (bus route, classroom, grade, department, etc.).
Set filter conditions (is any of, is none of, contains, etc.).
Save and wait for the sync to complete.
