Importing Relationships

Updated over 2 months ago

Why use Relationships?

Relationships are used to create connections between parents and students in the app. This can be useful for features like Target List creation, My ID, Conversations, and more. Also, this can help Administrators ensure that only those who are parents of current students are active in the app, keeping data more secure.

Why Import Relationships?

Importing relationships allows all parent(guardian)/student connections to be made using one easy spreadsheet. This can also be done via a data sync (SFTP or API) using a student information system, but this article is covering the manual process.

Important Note

Before you begin make sure your guardian/parent and student data is added within Manage People. Once you have confirmed the user records are there you can move forward with importing relationships.

  1. Click People

2. Then click the Import

3. Click Import Relationships

4. This will show a button to download the spreadsheet for inputting relationships, if it has not been downloaded already. Download this spreadsheet and input relationship data.

On this spreadsheet, you must include the following:

  • Parent Email

  • Student Email OR Student ID

  • Relationship Type (Parent, Aide, Guardian, Relative, Other)

This also means the parent and student must have accounts within the dashboard prior to trying to establish connections.

5. Here is an example of the spreadsheet. Once this is filled out correctly, upload the spreadsheet.

6. If all records are valid with all correct information, one will receive a summary that shows similar to the below. If there are invalid records, it will inform of those. If all records are valid, hit Continue.

7. It will do another check for errors. Click Continue again if there are no errors.

8. It will show the data to be imported. Check the data, then click Import for the data to be imported. This can take time and it will run in the background.
