Common terms used when working in or discussing Edlio's Mass Communications

Mass Communication A product that allows schools/districts to send phone calls, texts, and emails to their community.

Main Navigation Elements

  • Home: Main dashboard landing page showing key metrics and navigation options.

  • Mass Communication: Section for creating and managing messages sent through multiple channels.

  • Conversations: Area for managing direct two-way communications between staff and families.

  • Features: Tools for managing various aspects of the app functionality.

  • People: Section for importing, exporting, and managing user records.

  • App Builder: Tool for customizing the mobile application interface and functionality.

  • Marketing: Resources to help promote app adoption among the school community.

  • Analytics: Data tracking tools showing app usage and communication effectiveness.

  • Logs: Record of system activities and synchronization details for troubleshooting.

Mass Communication Components

  • New Message: Function to create and send communications to selected recipients.

  • View Messages: Archive of previously sent communications with delivery statistics.

  • Email & Phone Activity: Reports on communication delivery and engagement through

  • these channels.

  • Auto Notices: System for setting up automated recurring notifications based on triggers.

  • Templates: Pre-designed message formats that can be reused for consistent communication.

  • Settings: Configuration options for the mass communication system.
    Message Creation Elements

  • Channels: Communication methods selected for message distribution (App, Email, Text, Voice, Social).

  • Targets: Target Lists selected to receive a specific communication (not individual recipients).

  • Compose: Interface for creating the actual message content.

  • Send: Final step in the message creation process to dispatch the communication.

  • Name: Internal identifier for a message visible only to administrators.

Community Analytics Terms

  • Community Analytics: Section for monitoring the reach and communication capabilities across different user groups in the school community.

  • Family Reach: Metric showing how many students have at least one associated contact (parent/guardian) that can be reached through available communication channels (app, email, text, voice). Displayed as both a percentage and fraction (e.g., "5/8 Students").

  • Reachable: Status indicating users who have at least one valid communication channel through which they can receive messages.

  • Unreachable: Status indicating users who have contact information but cannot be reached (possibly due to incorrect information or opt-outs).

  • No Contact Info: Status indicating students who lack any associated contact information in the system.

  • Staff Reach: Metric showing how many staff members can be reached through at least one communication channel. Displayed as both a percentage and fraction (e.g., "20/43 Staff").

  • App Adoption: Percentage of users who have downloaded and are using the mobile app (shown as "% on APP").

  • Reachability History: Tracking changes in user reach metrics over time to monitor improvement or decline.

  • Reach Percentage Change: Shows increase or decrease in reach compared to a previous time period (displayed with + or - indicators).

  • Staff Without App: Staff members who are reachable through other channels but haven't downloaded the mobile app.

  • Students With No Contact Info: Students without any associated parent/guardian contact information in the system.

  • Unreachable Staff: Staff with contact information that may be incorrect or have opted out of communications.

  • Review Features: Tools that allow administrators to examine and resolve issues with specific user groups (e.g., "Review parents without App").Utility Functions

  • Notifications: System alerts for administrators about platform activities and updates.

  • Account: User profile and authentication settings.
