Apple Developer Account

All about your Apple Developer Account and Renewal Steps- Pending Agreements, Distribution Certificates, Membership Renewal, Account Holder Information

📧 Renewal warning notifications: When the system detects that your Apple Developer account needs renewal action, Edlio now sends email alerts in addition to the warning banner on your app dashboard — so a renewal doesn’t quietly lapse and interrupt your app in the App Store.

How you’re notified

  • Email to your Apple Developer account address: when a renewal is needed, an email is sent to the address associated with your Apple Developer account. This email is always sent and is not configurable.

  • Administrator notifications: all accounts with the Administrator identity also receive a dashboard notification and an email.

  • Configurable for administrators: administrators can adjust these notifications in their Dashboard notification settings.

Default settings

  • Dashboard notification: enabled by default for all administrators

  • Email notification (to administrators): disabled by default

  • Email to the Apple Developer account address: always sent, not configurable

Why this helps: the dashboard warning banner is easy to miss if you don’t visit often, and the email tied to the Apple Developer account is frequently unattended. Sending notifications directly to administrators makes sure renewal warnings reach someone who can act on them — reducing the risk of an expired developer account disrupting your app in the App Store.

Certificates- Most certificates renew without the client having to take action. To be sure, you can log into your Apple Developer Account here and check for any notifications. If you are unsure about a certificate and what you should do, reach out to App Support for further details.

Pending Agreements- Accepting these new Apple IOS agreements will ensure your continued ability to send push notifications to your app users. It will also allow us to add new features to your app and make important version updates as needed. Please log in to your Apple Developer Account here and accept any pending agreements.

Distribution Certificates- These certs renew themselves, and no action is needed.

Membership Renewal- the Account Holder owns Apple Developer Accounts, typically someone at the school or district that opened the Developer Account or has been transferred to for oversight when/if the original account holder has left the school/district. If an Apple Developer Account has expired, we cannot service that app account with updates, publishing, changes, or bug fixes.

If your Apple Developer Program membership expires, your app will no longer be available for download within the App Store. Renewal is mandatory, as that's the only way we can ensure that your app stays up-to-date. I have attached the instructions below on how to complete this.

Please follow the steps below to complete the renewal process with Apple:

Note: Make sure you log in as the account owner. No one else at the business can complete this.

  • Locate the red or gold banner, click the white button "Renew Membership"

  • Click Continue

  • You will then be prompted to fill in your credit card information to pay for another year of service with Apple. (If your developer account has paid apps)

Note: you will not be charged the $99 membership fee if you have completed the fee waiver form. Here is the link to the fee waiver - Apple Developer Program Membership Fee Waivers - Support - Apple Developer

*If you have auto-renew turned on, there is no need to take action. Your membership will auto-renew on the date you have it set to.*
